The Hebrew blessing upon seeing a King

In the Brit Chadashah we sometimes read of the people “glorifying God” when they witnessed a miracle of Yeshua. But what Hebrew blessing might this have been?

Well, a clue is given in Matthew 9:1-8 where the people, after having witnessed Yeshua heal a paralytic, “marvelled and glorified God who had given such authority to flesh and blood.” Interestingly enough, this would be the same blessing recited when a Jew saw a king (or head of state). In other words, when the crowds saw the power of God at work through Yeshua they irrepressibly praised God for the presence of the Mashiach, the rightful King of Israel.

Blessed are Thou, LORD our God, King of the universe,
Who has given of His glory to flesh and blood.
